Mimaki has reported that it enjoyed an excellent FESPA Digital in Hamburg, Germany with a prominent stand that featured a broad selection of its product range. Visitors to the Mimaki stand were able to appreciate the depth of capability and revenue generating potential an investment in new technology could bring.
JV34-260: The latest outdoor durable inkjet printer from Mimaki
Based on the award winning JV33 series, the recently launched Mimaki JV34-260 model features a print width of 2.6m and achieves significantly faster speeds resulting in higher productivity while at the same time appealing to cost-conscious print service providers. Available as either a solvent or dye sublimation model, the JV34-260 can deliver a wide variety of indoor and outdoor applications with excellent quality at high printing speeds of up to 30m2/h.
UJF-3042 with clear and flexible inks
The Mimaki stand displayed three UJF-3042 printers, the world’s first compact (A3 size) UV flatbed printer, which attracted a large number of visitors. One machine was used to print variable data on promotional products, the second presented the creative effects of Mimaki’s clear ink, and the third introduced the availability of flexible ink for UJF-3042.
Depending on the design, clear ink can be used as a protective coating or spot coating for design highlights. With a gloss or matte finish, it adds value to the print results by creating eye-catching effects. In addition to this; clear ink can be printed in multiple layers to produce a more enticing look and add a tactile finish to the print.
The newly introduced flexible ink for UJF-3042 employs a formula that enables the ink to be stretched up to 200% and does not crack when bent. This allows innovative applications such as operation panels or membrane switches to be designed and created. The flexible ink for the UJF-3042 will shortly become available with a white ink as part of the set, which is especially useful for printing on transparent and coloured substrates.
High capacity textile printers
For textile professionals looking for printing solutions for the soft signage and apparel markets, Mimaki exhibited three high capacity direct-to-fabric printers: the 1.8m wide Tx400-1800D and Tx400-1800B, as well as the super wide JV5-320DS (3.2m).
Equipped with the new adhesive belt carrier system for stretchable materials, the Tx400-1800B was shown printing on cotton, using reactive dye ink. The Tx400-1800D and JV5-320DS printed on polyester using Mimaki’s dye sublimation ink. To produce the final results of a dye sublimation print, a rotary press was also featured on the stand.
All three printers attracted great attention from textile professionals from various markets, including soft signage and textile proofing, who sought printing solutions for applications such as retail POS, flags, banners, apparel, sportswear and home furnishings.
Printing on specialist media
At this year’s FESPA, Mimaki presented an eco-friendly printing solution with its innovative inkjet printers; the UJV-160 and the CJV30 Series, gaining considerable support from visitors. In co-operation with Avery and MACtac, Mimaki sent out the message that being more environmentally responsible was possible without compromising quality.
Mimaki’s UJV-160, which pairs the environmental benefits of UV LED curing technology with reusable ink packs for reduced waste, was shown printing on non-PVC media from Avery Dennison. Meanwhile, the CJV30-130 integrated inkjet printer/cutter was equipped with Mimaki’s eco-solvent inks and green media from MACtac.
Another highlight at the exhibition was Mimaki’s solvent-coated media, which was shown printing on the CJV30-60 with metallic ink. The newly introduced media will be available as a transparent film, transparent shrink foil, and metallised foil. The combination of this particular media with Mimaki’s metallic ink and the CJV30-60 printer / cutter creates an affordable yet powerful solution for the packaging mock-up and sampling industry.
