Mutoh Belgium has announced the availability of a new 64” (165 cm) wide single head piezo drop on demand sign and display printer, named ValueJet 1624X. The new 1624X printer is the successor to Mutoh’s best-selling ValueJet 1624 printer introduced in 2011. Delivering sellable production speeds at 720 x 720 dpi up to 20.5 m²/h, the VJ-1624X integrates Mutoh’s industry-leading Intelligent Interweaving (i²) and new revolutionary DropMaster print automation technology and adds a newly designed motorised take-up system for rolls up to 30 kg and Eco Ultra litre ink bags.
The VJ-1624X printer can be configured with Mutoh Eco Ultra or Universal Mild Solvent (UMS) inks and is targeted at long term outdoor and indoor sign and display applications such as posters, banners, backlit signage, wall coverings, point of sale displays, fine art reproductions, vehicle graphics, stickers and much more. For the UMS inks, Mutoh recently obtained a pan European Indoor Air Comfort Certificate, which makes the inks ideally suited for the production of indoor deco prints.
Key features:
- Micro Piezo Print Head Technology: The VJ-1624X has one latest generation micro piezo head on board. The variable drop print head has 8 channels with 180 nozzles per channel and can produce ink drops as small as 3.5 picolitres up to 35.2 picolitres. To accommodate a wide range of substrates, the head height can be set to low and high position.
- New DropMaster Technology: Specifically developed for Mutoh’s latest generation ValueJet printers and already available on the ValueJet 1638X and ValueJet 628 models, Mutoh now also integrated its DropMaster technology into the VJ-1624X model. DropMaster is a revolutionary print automation technique which eliminates the need for cumbersome and time consuming media dependent printer adjustments. Knowing the media thickness and consequently the drop-throw distance between print head and media surface, DropMaster is capable of automatically recalculating and adjusting the uni/bi-directional fire timings. The technology does this regardless of resolution and print speed. Bottom line, DropMaster leads to an overall spectacular increase of image definition and smoothness and to significant time savings for the operator.
Inks for ValueJet 1624X
The ValueJet 1624X is fit for intermittent production as well as continuous production. In function of the target print volume, the new VJ-1624X can be configured with two different ink types. Switching from one ink type to another and vice versa is possible.
Mutoh Eco Ultra CMYK inks, available in 220 ml and 440 ml cassettes and now also in litre bags, are Mutoh’s third generation eco inks featuring improved ink fixation, better drying and improved scratch resistance. The new litre bags are mounted in the printer by way of an adapter.
Mutoh Universal Mild Solvent (UMS) inks are available in 440 ml cassettes and litre bottles, for use with Mutoh’s bulk ink system. Mutoh CMYK UMS inks combine the key benefits of resin-based, eco solvent and mild solvent ink chemistries. They offer an unrivalled colour gamut, covering 83 % of the Pantone C® colour chart. Mutoh UMS inks are the first digital printing inks having obtained a pan-European wide Indoor Air Comfort Certificate meeting the most stringent European EU requirements for Indoor Air Comfort.
