The nationwide charity day has been championed by Antalis, Europe’s leading distributor of paper, packaging solutions and visual communications products, for over 10 years. This year, as well as dressing in pink and fancy dress, colleagues took part in numerous fundraising activities and managed to raise an impressive £3,000 and counting.
Breast Cancer Now, the UK’s largest breast cancer charity, is dedicated to funding research into the disease to improve the way we prevent, detect, treat and stop breast cancer. Each October, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the charity runs it flagship awareness day ‘wear it pink’ and encourages people to dress up or down in pink – whether at home, work or school – and donate money.
The team at Antalis started the day by taking part in a ‘Big Breakfast’ sandwich eating challenge, followed by a ‘Pink Bake-Off’ competition and bake sale. There was the chance to win some bumper prizes in a raffle draw and ‘wear it pink’ wristbands were available to purchase.
The team also took up the ambitious challenge of ‘climbing the pink mountain’ by taking it in turns on a cross trainer to see how far they could travel and whether they could conquer the highest mountain possible. In the end, the team managed an impressive 58,665 steps which is the equivalent to climbing Mount Everest.
Samantha Brown, Communication Manager at Antalis, said: “Antalis has supported Breast Cancer Now for a number of years, as so many of us are touched by the disease in one way or another. The whole team at Antalis really got into the fun spirit of things at our ‘wear it pink’ event this year and I’d like to thank everyone for their efforts and generosity. I’m really pleased we were able to raise over £3,000 and hope it goes some way to help fight this devastating disease.”
