Digidelta invests €3.4M in Decal 4.0 Factory for global expansion

Portuguese company Digidelta invests 3.4 million in the Decal 4.0 factory in Torres Novas.

Digidelta, a Portuguese company specializing in the manufacturing of systems for the digital printing markets, will invest 3.5 million euros in the current Decal 4.0 factory in Torres Novas.

The investment aims to increase the production capacity and efficiency of the manufacturing unit, including a new adhesive coating line, complete automation of packaging, and an automatic warehouse for semi-finished products.

The company's goal is to triple production sustainably and with high quality, to meet the needs of customers globally. The Decal 4.0 factory, with over 10,000 m², will be operating at 100% in the last quarter of 2024.

"Digidelta is increasing production capacity through significant investments in automation and advanced technology. Currently, we already use coating lines for eco-friendly solvent-free UV adhesives, automatic warehouses, and robotic cutting and packaging systems. These investments not only enhance efficiency but also ensure the quality and sustainability of our products," explains Rui Leitão, CEO of Digidelta.

Digidelta was founded by Rui Leitão, the current CEO, in 1986. The company has more than 180 employees and exports to over 60 countries. In 2023, Digidelta recorded a turnover of 41 million euros, marking the best year in its history.

For the current year, the company anticipates sustained growth, especially in the Sign Graphics, industrial, and textile business areas, with accelerated recovery thanks to new models and innovative technologies. The introduction of DTF (direct to film) technology in the textile sector has also innovated the market, and international expansion and the demand for sustainable products have driven this growth. In addition to these areas of activity, the company also operates in the segments of visual communication, sign graphics & advertising, textiles, label & packaging, leather & footwear, interior decoration, and 3D printing. Currently, the best-selling products are the adhesives from the Decal brand.

"Our ability to innovate and offer high-quality customized solutions has been a key factor in this growth. Additionally, international expansion and the increasing demand for sustainable products have also driven the business. Later this year, we will introduce a new brand with a range of bio-renewable-based self-adhesive materials that minimize environmental impact without compromising usability and final application," adds Rui Leitão.

Digidelta Business Areas: Decal and Mimaki

Digidelta has two business areas: its own Decal range and a partnership with Mimaki, a Japanese company providing equipment for printing solutions, where Digidelta is the exclusive distributor for the Iberian Peninsula.

The Decal range, launched by Digidelta in 2009, is a brand specializing in the development and commercialization of self-adhesive materials used in various industries, such as visual communication, decoration, and labeling. Decal products stand out for their sustainability and innovation, using solvent-free UV adhesives and PVC-FREE products. Through Decal, Digidelta has managed to consolidate the growth of both areas, providing a broader service to customers.

The partnership with Mimaki has also been very positive for Digidelta. As the exclusive representative for the Iberian Peninsula, Digidelta benefits from access to cutting-edge technologies and innovative products, which has strengthened Digidelta's leading position. Rui Leitão, CEO of Digidelta, emphasizes that "the stagnation in the fashion sector was compensated by continuous demand in the Activewear and Sportswear segments, and a complete recovery and significant increase in demand is expected in 2024."
