Since it was stated by Scott Frame, Xerox’s vice president of wide format, that the company will stop taking orders for wide format products in the U.S. and Canada in 2011, rumours have been abounding as to what effect this will have on other geographical markets.

In a statement provided to LFR, Robert Corbishley, Xerox’s European PR Manager, confirmed that “Xerox will stop taking orders for wide format products in the U.S. and Canada ONLY, in 2011, with specific timing based on inventory levels.  The company’s European and Developing Market Operations will continue selling wide format products and will source new products.”

The statement continues “Xerox prioritises each investment, allocating research and development budget to areas where the company can deliver the best value to the marketplace. As a result of this practice, Xerox has opted to not invest in wide format product engineering in 2011.  So, for Xerox in Europe, and indeed the rest of the world, except the USA and Canada, it’s business as usual for Xerox and its wide format customers.”
