The final day of FESPA Digital 2011 saw the conclusion of FESPA’s Digital Man Competition, where Blink Giant Media from the UK was awarded the top prize of a brand new iPad. FESPA’s online community also selected Imma Maureso (Spain) as the People’s Choice winner of a HD Camera, while Catalin Dinculesco (Romania) came in second place.
Entrants to the Digital Man competition were challenged to photograph themselves wearing the Digital Man mask in an amazing location, next to a brilliant example of digital wide format print, or doing something exciting.
Blink Giant Media employed innovation and imagination to stretch the brief and submit an outstanding video of the Digital Man running down the side of a giant building wrap. The sequence, which has received more than 350 hits online (http://youtu.be/b8M4MsO25TI), demonstrates every aspect of the Digital Man challenge and also brings to life FESPA Digital 2011’s parkour theme.
The People’s Choice winner, Imma Maureso, Account Manager at NetLink Imaging S.L., was chosen by FESPA’s Facebook fans who voted by ‘liking’ uploaded entries. Imma’s picture shows the Digital Man sprawled across a floor surrounded by colourful wide format print.
Commenting on her winning entry Imma says: “We are a young, creative team and our office is always full of printed samples from different parts of Europe. Talking about FESPA as a team, the best known exhibition in Europe, we had the idea to participate in the Digital Man competition using the many print samples we receive. Taking the photographs was really good fun and became a team exercise. We followed the campaign from its launch right up until the moment we arrived in Hamburg and were so happy to win the camera.”
Commenting on the exhibition she continues: “We spent a full week at the show, it was fantastic, a really busy exhibition. We must say thank you to FESPA for giving companies like us the opportunity to strengthen the relationships we have with our current customers and for helping us discover new business opportunities. Thank you DigiMan!”
The Digital Man drove to FESPA Digital 2011 in his Smart Car in order to announce the winners of the Digital Man Competition. On the way he stopped to visit a series of evolutionary printers who took it in turns to wrap sections of his vehicle.
