HP's most advanced sheetfed digital press and the industry's largest printing device designed for Latex Ink Technologies received top honours in the 2010 "Must See 'Ems" awards programme on Oct. 2.
The Must See 'Ems awards, presented for the HP Indigo 7500 Digital Press and the HP Scitex LX800 Printer, came during the annual Graphic Arts Show Company (GASC) Executive Outlook conference preceding the Graph Expo tradeshow.
"If you want to see some of the best that this industry has to offer, you can start by reviewing the products recognised in this programme, so we are excited that, for the fourth consecutive year, new HP technologies have earned Must See 'Ems awards," said Jan Riecher, vice president and general manager, Graphics Solutions Business - Americas, HP. "Innovative technologies like the HP Indigo 7500 and the HP Scitex LX800 provide a true competitive advantage that graphic arts professionals are using to ignite their growth."
Three additional HP solutions - the HP Scitex FB700 Printer and the HP Designjet L25500 and Z5200 printers - all received the Must See 'Ems programme's "Worth-A-Look" award. Plus, HP's campaign to reach the creative audience at the 2010 Cannes International Advertising Festival received an award of distinction in the first-ever "Positively Print" awards - a new print advocacy programme from GASC. Positively Print, which was created and administered by PrintCom Consulting Group President Bill Lamparter, honours graphic arts industry companies for their efforts to promote the power of print in the media mix.
A digital press for mid-size offset work and high-value variable data print
The HP Indigo 7500 elevates the quality, reliability and productivity of sheetfed digital printing. Print service providers (PSPs) use the HP Indigo 7500 to offer customers efficient, offset-quality printing on jobs normally produced on mid-size sheetfed offset presses, as well as high-value variable-data jobs requiring digital print capabilities.
The press includes the new Vision System, an integrated module that scans press output at full press speed, which allows for the automation of numerous press calibration and service tasks that operators typically must perform, reducing down time and improving print quality.
The new high-quality, productive alternative to large format solvent printing
The126-inch HP Scitex LX800 Printer sets a new image-quality standard for the industrial large format market. It is the largest, most productive HP Latex Ink device to date, operating at speeds up to 947 sq.ft./hr. for outdoor billboards and up to 484 sq.ft./hr. for indoor applications. The printer also features roll-to-free fall, roll-to-collector and dual-roll capabilities.
The HP Latex Inks used with the LX800 printer offer more consistent image quality than solvent-ink printers while delivering comparable performance in terms of productivity, size, durability and media choices. By supporting a broader range of applications, latex-based printers offer PSPs more versatility and also help reduce the environmental impact of printing.
Continuous innovation across HP's graphic arts portfolio
The three HP large format printers earning "Worth-A-Look" honours in the Must See 'Ems awards programme offer productivity, efficiency and high quality for a broad array of signage and graphics applications.
- The HP Scitex FB700 Printer, with new media handling features and a White Ink Upgrade Kit, is a UV-curable flatbed solution that helps PSPs produce high-quality prints for durable outdoor and indoor applications on virtually any rigid or flexible media.
- The HP Designjet L25500 Printer uses HP Latex Inks and delivers easy, low-maintenance printing for a broad range of high-quality outdoor and indoor applications.
- The HP Designjet Z5200 PostScript® Printer is a simple, affordable water-based ink device designed to help production printing firms bring large format printing opportunities in-house. The 44-inch printer includes new HP Instant Printing Pro software that offers fast, easy file preparation and automates production tasks.
The Must See 'Ems awards programme identifies the most compelling technologies and products at the Graph Expo and PRINT tradeshows in Chicago. All of the HP technologies honoured in the 2010 Must See 'Ems program were part of HP's Graph Expo exhibit earlier this month.
Print: a custom medium available in nearly any format at Cannes
The HP Cannes International Advertising Festival campaign honoured in the Positively Print awards programme used HP solutions to demonstrate the many ways print can raise awareness, spur consumers to action and differentiate brands.
During the June 2010 festival, HP joined with advertising industry creative luminaries to discuss how digital print brings content from the virtual world to life in the physical world. HP created two unique publications for the campaign, plus the company assembled a special lounge at Cannes featuring HP-developed elements from pillows and wallpaper to tabletops and custom drink cans - all produced using HP Scitex large-format printers and HP Indigo digital presses.
