Wide format inkjet printer and cutting plotter manufacturer Mutoh Belgium nv will exhibit at the Sign & Digital UK 2011, to be held at the NEC Birmingham, United Kingdom from April 12th – 14th. Mutoh Belgium (booth G40) will display its latest innovations in the field of large format digital printing for commercial print, sign and soft sign applications.
Innovations on display will include Mutoh’s MS Ultra inks which increase productivity through more efficient printing, Mutoh’s Bio-Lactite inks for environmentally conscious print providers and a new set of dedicated UV inks suited for 3D wrapping.
Visitors will also be able to discover the strong extension of Mutoh’s product portfolio in the field of sublimation & direct textile printing, as well as the Kona high-performance cutting plotter series designed for professional sign cutting applications, engineered and manufactured in Belgium.

3D Flexible UV Inks suited for 3D Wrapping
Mutoh will première its new 3D UV inks suited for 3D wrapping applications on curved, riveted or corrugated surfaces. Printing on rigid substrates is also possible.
Immediately dry and ready for lamination & application, the new stretchable 3D UV ink offers 200 % elongation capabilities.
This new ink set from Mutoh is ideally suited for existing solvent printer users or industrial users with focus on 3D wrapping, looking for a productive machine offering best print quality, rigid media compatibility and last but not least offering the flexibility to immediately laminate and apply prints.
The zero VOC 3D UV ink has been tuned to Mutoh’s Zephyr UV 65” (1651 mm) wide digital UV inkjet printer.
Bio-Lactite and MS Ultra Inks
Mutoh’s Bio-Lactite ink will enable print providers to effectively reduce the entire environmental footprint of their daily production.
Rather than being petro-chemical based, Mutoh’s Bio-Lactite inks are 50 % from a renewable organic resource – corn. The inks do not release any harmful VOCs in the working environment. Mutoh Bio-Lactite inks are particularly suited for print providers demanding “green output” on recyclable media and wanting to achieve high quality print results on “exotic” media not typically intended for inkjet printing.
The inks will deliver high quality print results on a wide range of uncoated environmentally friendly low-cost roll-to-roll substrates. Unlike competitive “green” inks, the new inks are fixed and dried using a minimum of energy (600 W).
The ink formulation provides a wide colour gamut and a unique level of gloss preservation. Outputs can be used for indoor and outdoor applications with an outdoor durability of up to 2 years, without lamination.
The inks are ideally suited for 3D applications including car wrapping and thermo-deformation. A unique feature is that they are capable of printing on both roll and rigid substrates.
Mutoh’s third generation mild solvent inks, called MS Ultra will enhance printer productivity through more efficient printing & a higher level of user convenience. Compared to existing Mutoh mild solvent inks, the MS Ultra inks will provide printer users an even wider media compatibility and a higher performance in number of square metres printed per hour. A higher level of user convenience is made possible as the inks do not require daily printer maintenance.
Mutoh’s MS Ultra ink has been designed and optimised specifically for the Spitfire Extreme series and Blizzard models, offering the highest level of image quality and printer reliability.
Sublimation & Direct Textile Printers
Mutoh will be demonstrating a dye sublimation workflow including the Mutoh Viper Extreme dye sublimation printer and an individual calender called UniFixer, suitable for both sublimation of transfer paper prints and for fixing direct printed fabrics.
Sign & Digital UK visitors will also be introduced to the wide portfolio of Mutoh soft sign and direct textile printing solutions, including the Viper TX Soft Sign with integrated fixation unit and the multi-fabric Viper TX Professional printer, which is a professional direct to fabric printer with a moving adhesive belt system and integrated dryer, capable of printing both knitted and woven fabric.
Kona Cutting Plotters
Kona is a high-performance cutting plotter series designed for professional sign cutting applications.
Enabling the finest cutting quality with excellent tracking, the Mutoh Kona cutting plotters are available in three widths, i.e. Kona 760 (39”), Kona 1400 (64”) and Kona 1650 (74”), offering a cutting range of respectively 30”, 55” and 64”.
The affordable Kona cutters are equipped with several new features promoting extra user comfort, such as a full-colour 3.5” LCD touch screen, a newly designed automatic sheet-off mechanism, as well as a “dual” roll support system. Media support rollers allow handling of regular vinyl. A second roll-off system is available for contactless handling of pre-printed rolls. This will avoid damage to freshly printed rolls.
