Over 6300 visitors attended the Sign AFrica Expo, which took place from 24-26 August at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg. There were over 119 exhibitors dedicated to all things signage.
Over 500 visitors entered the Visitor Passport competition where entrants had to visit 11 stands and get their passports stamped at each stand. Errol Myers was the lucky winner of the iPad 2.
Many international speakers gave presentations at the conference programme. Dr Nicholas Hellmuth from FLAAR Reports; Ran Landau and Rana Raychoudhury from Hewlett Packard; Tim Taylor from Screen; Dror Danai from Scodix; Steve Swan from Kodak; Kieron Loy from Re-board and Thomas Poetz from 3P spoke on various topics related to digital printing.
There were many new launches at the expo. Mimaki’s new UJF-3042FX UV got its first international launch; Maizey Plastics unveiled its FOM+ SPS material for flatbed digital printing; Avery Dennison announced the first accredited companies in its Specialist Converter and Specialist Installer programes; Roland launched its new VersaUV printers and Tulip Inks launched its VE33 colour-matched eco-solvent ink.
