Danny van Dongen, one of Europe’s top-rated GT4 sports car racing drivers – who is being sponsored by Avery Dennison – has made an excellent start to the second season in the Dutch GT4 Championship.
Seven races form the 2010 season, with six events on the circuits in Assen and Zandvoort, and the last in the autumn on the famous Nürburgring Grand Prix track in Germany.
In the first race during the second weekend event of the season in May, on the Zandvoort circuit, Danny van Dongen’s GT4 Corvette – wrapped in Avery Graphics® 900 and 800 series films and carrying the Avery Dennison logo – swept in second just 0.054 seconds behind the winning car driven by Jan Joris Verheul.
‘Before the race, I would have been thrilled with this outcome’, commented the Netherlands-based driver Danny van Dongen immediately after the race. ‘But I was ahead of the field during the last lap and should have won,’ he said.
Danny van Dongen is now focusing his sights on the next races in the Championship. He says: ‘I will be going full out for victory. And that's a realistic ambition, as I have proved.’
Avery Dennison’s sponsorship theme, appropriately, is “driven to excel” – and that’s what sports car racing is all about. Nobody competes to be second best – especially, it seems, not Avery Dennison or Danny van Dongen.
