Yupo, the largest manufacturer of synthetic papers in the Western Hemisphere, has once again grabbed the attention of graphic artists, designers, and marketers attending Digital Solutions Cooperative's (Dscoop) annual conference -- Dscoop 6.
Attendees here are in the grip of Yupo's newest product innovation: YUPO Octopus, a premium synthetic paper that adheres to any smooth surface yet is removable and reusable thanks to a new technology called micro-suction.
POP materials, interactive marketing elements and promotions, and stand-out designs previously unheard of are now possible thanks to Yupo's latest advancement.
Tiny suction-cups, nearly invisible to the naked eye, formed on one side of the paper grip any flat surface like an octopus' tentacles (without all the other creepy sea monster-like qualities).
Like its namesake, YUPO Octopus is waterproof and also possesses all of the attributes of the many other YUPO Synthetic Paper grades, such as tear resistance and durability.
"In both senses of the word, the 'applications' of YUPO Octopus are limitless," said Bill Hewitt, marketing manager. "Octopus doesn't adhere to a surface just once - it can be washed off, kept clean, and re-adhered to any other smooth surface as many times as you'd like."
Available now and suitable for countless applications, YUPO Octopus is for HP Indigo digital printing but is not compatible for use with inkjet or laser printers. Glass, PVC, aluminum, coated paper, and other smooth surfaces will work for YUPO Octopus. Since it doesn't rely on magnets or static, Octopus is safe for use on electrical surfaces without adverse effect.
"As the world's leading premium synthetic substrate, Yupo once again demonstrates the company's commitment to developing new YUPO grades to meet the needs of new applications," Hewitt said.
