Fujifilm launches Acuity LED 3200R 3.2m superwide UV printer at Drupa

Fujifilm Acuity LED 3200R

Fujifilm has announced the launch of the new Acuity LED 3200R. Offering a maximum print width of 3.2m, the printer features the Acuity range’s superb quality and productivity, and will be shown for the first time at drupa 2016 in Dusseldorf, Germany on stand A25, Hall 8b from 31st May to 10th June.

The Acuity LED 3200R roll printer - a rebadge of the recently launched Mimaki UJV55-320, which you can read more about here - builds on the success of the versatile Acuity LED 1600 II UV inkjet printer, launched in 2015 and the original Acuity LED 1600, introduced in 2012, both of which have gained wide market acceptance thanks to their ultra-high quality, application flexibility and ability to print on a wide range of roll and rigid media. The Acuity LED 3200R is set to build on the success of this range by extending the print width up to 3.2m, and further increasing print speeds.

With a top speed of 110m2 per hour (1,184 ft2/hr), the Acuity LED 3200R satisfies customer demands for faster job turnarounds and lower output costs, whilst retaining the outstanding print quality that has come to be expected of the Acuity LED 1600 series. The printer features eight ink channels as standard (cyan, magenta, yellow, black, light cyan, light magenta, white and clear) and utilises Fujifilm’s renowned Uvijet ink range to reproduce an incredibly wide range of colors with smooth gradations, while ensuring superb ink adhesion to a wide range of substrates. The Acuity LED 3200R produces consistent vibrant colors with a high degree of opacity for optimal results in day/night applications. Instant-curing UV inks enable multi-layer printing that reproduces high-quality designs with two-layer or three-layer printing. The addition of a clear ink means high gloss spot varnish effects can also be created, enabling sign and display printers to produce real added value print.

The Acuity LED 3200R will take media weighing up to 100 kilos (220 lbs) and can handle the printing of two rolls simultaneously, boosting productivity as two different images can be printed at the same time.

Mike Battersby, Marketing Manager at Fujifilm Speciality Ink Systems, comments: “Our Acuity LED 1600 series has proved hugely successful due to its unique combination of quality, speed and versatility. We are delighted to be able to announce an additional model in the range, the Acuity LED 3200R, as it means we can provide an even wider choice of options to our customers. We look forward to demonstrating the wide range of added value print that this new printer can produce at drupa.”

The Acuity LED 3200R will be commercially available in the middle of 2016, but as yet it is unclear whether it will share a similar pricepoint with the Mimaki UJV55-320 on which it is based.
