The very first Océ Colorado roll to roll 1650 printer has been installed at Multiprint Solutions in Stockport. Andy Bruce and Mike Riley took over Multiprint in June last year and since that time have been investing heavily in new machinery to vastly improve the large format offering to their clients which include advertising agencies, POS and merchandisers ,retail and display/event companies locally and nationwide.
The first piece of equipment they purchased was the Zund G3 Cutter, complete with the automatic routing centre which enables the machine to automatically select and change routing/cutting tools without operator intervention. Director Andy Bruce said “We knew from the offset that we needed to provide a precision cutting service. We have been amazed at how this machine has improved our output and offering and streamlined production.”
Early in 2019, Multiprint purchased the Océ Arizona flatbed 6170XTS, increasing their ability to print on a variety of substrates up to 3m x 2.5 metre wide. The Arizona also cut the printing time of the previous machine by over 75%.
Last month, they invested in the brand-new Océ Colorado roll to roll 1650 printer, the very first to be installed in the UK.
Director Mike Riley said “We’ve been delighted with the quality of equipment supplied by Canon and this together with their warranty package, made the choice of installing a second machine a lot easier. We’re thrilled that the first Colorado in the UK has found its home in Stockport.
The Colorado UV printer can print onto substrates up to 1650mm wide and because of the unique way the inks are cured we can offer a matt or gloss finished image no matter what substrate is used. For example we can print a matt image onto gloss paper, which if you have white text on a coloured background gives the appearance of the white text looking as though it has been gloss varnished. Which up until now was not possible without extra lamination.
The machine also offers double sided printing and can print onto materials up to 800 microns thick. Its inks are very flexible and so wont “crack” when creased or folded. Director Andy Bruce said “We’re amazed at both the quality and speed that the Colorado produces graphics and the wide range of substrates it can use - It can print onto almost anything!”
Duncan Smith, Country Director for Production Printing Products at Canon UK said, “We’re thrilled Multiprint has decided to add the Océ Colorado 1650 printer to its existing line up. Having also recently installed an Océ Arizona 6170 XTS, we’re excited to continue to build on this partnership and help drive Multiprint’s business forward.”
Multiprint is quickly establishing itself in the market as a one-stop shop for all large format print solutions, including a full fitting and exhibition service. And we’re not just talking about banners and signs, Multiprint pride themselves on providing bespoke POS and display solutions to meet their client’s needs. Mike Riley said “The challenge really goes out to the creatives If you can imagine it, we can most likely find a way to produce it.”
