PaperlinX launches new range of 'Fabriano' creative papers

PaperlinX has launched a new range of creative papers under the brand name Fabriano. The full collection is available to customers from all three PaperlinX companies - Robert Horne Group, Howard Smith Paper Group and PaperCo.

Extensive research conducted by the merchant identified the top criteria for creative designers and printers when specifying papers.  The right choice, availability and competitive pricing were quoted as the top three.  Fabriano creative media is available in weights between 90gsm and 480gsm and has been developed in direct response to this research.

“The Fabriano collection has been created to meet our customers’ exact buying criteria. This comprehensive range of contemporary products is grouped in four distinct categories - Whites, Metallics, Colours and Translucents - a move designed to make it easier for printers to identify and specify the right solution for the application in hand,” says PaperlinX's marketing director, Philippa Charlton.

The Fabriano range includes the Fabriano Colours collection that offers a choice of 13 key colours, all of which are guaranteed for great on-press performance. Five colours have Indigo certification and sapphire treatment is available across the entire range. Plus, all Whites, Metallics, Colours and Translucents papers are held in stock and keenly priced.

Avery Dennison announces new products and enhancements to Polymeric Calendered films

Avery Dennison has responded to the dynamic market in applications for durable, medium-life self-adhesive graphics with enhancements to its inkjet-printable polymeric calendered vinyl ranges, Avery MPI 2000 and Avery MPI 2800.   New products for popular applications have been introduced, and the printed durability of both ranges is now warranted for significantly longer when the films are protected with its partner Avery DOL's overlaminates.

Newly added to the Avery MPI 2000 series range is a product specially formulated for apolar, low-surface-energy substrates like HDPE:  Avery MPI 2600 AP.   Its combination of a flexible, conformable face film and a high-tack specialty adhesive makes it an appropriate choice for application to many of today’s plastic substrates; it is available with Avery Easy Apply and Avery Easy Apply RS (repositionable/slideable) features for speedy, accurate, bubble-free application.

Avery MPI 2800 series films now feature two new economical solutions for shorter-life applications, Avery MPI 2802 permanent and 2803 removable, both of which feature a grey adhesive primer coat for added opacity – making them suitable for application over pre-decorated surfaces.

Frank Marquart, product manager, cast and polymeric films for Avery Dennison Graphics and Reflective Solutions, comments, "I believe that, as far as durability is concerned, we have created a match made in heaven, partnering our Avery MPI ranges with their special Avery DOL overlaminates.   Our best-in-class Avery MPI 2000 series films are now covered under our Avery ICS warranty scheme for an outstanding four-year printed life, meeting the highest market requirements for medium-life applications on flat and lightly-curved surfaces – including car, van and truck side panels.   Our shorter-life, cost-efficient Avery MPI 2800 series films now enjoy two-year printed warranty cover, making them a perfect choice for two-year-life outdoor and indoor campaign advertising."

He continues, "In today’s graphics market, we are seeing our inkjet-printable polymeric calendered vinyls taking an ever-larger share of the business, because of their versatility, durability, and cost/performance ratio.   They are suitable for an increasingly-broad range of applications – and, in this year of the European football cup competition,   we are actively promoting them on our website, with rewards for all who participate in a simple knowledge test."

Full details of Avery MPI polymeric calendered vinyls - and of the special football-related promotion - are available via the Avery Dennison Graphics and Reflective Solutions website.  For more information, please visit www.europe.averygraphics.com

Pyramid launches 'green' POLYLINEPro Range in the UK

Pyramid Display Materials has launched a unique range of environmentally friendly 100% recyclable polypropylene products to the UK display market. The POLYLINEPro range was developed exclusively in partnership with leading polypropylene manufacturer Mapal.

On the product development programme, Neil McCarthy, Pyramid’s head of sales and marketing, explains, “The launch of our POLYLINEPro range is the culmination of over 18 month’s product development with Mapal. We have been watching the market carefully and felt there was a shift coming from the retail chains away from some of the traditional PVC POS products to materials that could offer a simpler recycling stream with the end game being products actually being made with recycled content."

He continues, "When we started developing the POLYLINEPro range, as well as the environmental drivers, we also wanted to create some brand new products to give our customers new applications to sell to the market.  Within the range, we have the traditional PP products the market currently purchases but we have also developed a range of new products to include total opaque, large format flat sheet and roll, recycled content up to 100%, a banner and eyelet PP solution as well as a roll up banner PP substrate. We have extensively tested all POLYLINEPro products via large format litho, screen and UV inkjet technologies with excellent results, indeed some of our customers who helped test the products gave us orders immediately after testing which I suppose is the best recommendation we can get!”

POLYLINEPro is stocked at Pyramid's 3 sales and distribution centres in Manchester, Birmingham and Gateshead.

A Great Debut for Sihl Direct at Sign and Digital UK

Sihl Direct made its first appearance at the Sign and Digital show and was delighted with the response and feedback. The stand had eye-catching graphics that represented the company’s extensive range of media for just about every sign-making printing application, including posters, banners, backlit, photobase, canvas and wallpapers. This showed that for sign-makers, Sihl Direct can offer just about any material at a cost that suits the project.

“Throughout all three days, we had plenty of sign-makers and resellers coming onto the stand to learn more about our products,” says Ian Turnbull, Operations Director for Sihl Direct UK. “For many, these products are already familiar through our established OEM and private label business, but it is important for us now to establish our own brand and Sign and Digital UK has been the perfect forum for us to start doing that.”

With several new printers being launched across the show, Sihl Direct wanted to let end users know that its extensive manufacturing, testing and quality control capability means that it has the broadest range of products for just about all the leading printers on the market. The media covers aqueous, solvent, eco-solvent, UV and even the new Latex printers.

“Sign-makers understand that media is a vital part of the overall look and quality of their work and they want to make sure they have access to the best possible products at the best possible cost. Our extensive range helps them to meet this aim and we look forward to becoming the media of choice for many sign-makers throughout the UK,” concludes Turnbull.

Antalis McNaughton unveils 'Coala' brand at Sign & Digital UK

Antalis McNaughton has unveiled Coala, its new range of commodity, speciality and environmentally-friendly large format printing products, at Sign & Digital UK 2012.

The Coala collection includes 20 products for water-based ink and 54 for solvent, UV and latex ink. It provides printers with the versatility and performance they need to deliver premium quality print jobs to end customers, under a single brand.

The collection contains substrates for both indoor and outdoor applications including a broad range of papers, self-adhesives, banners, textiles, wallpapers and specialty media. Particular attention has been paid to the development of products for latex ink.

The Coala collection has been sourced from leading European suppliers, primarily from Germany, that have undergone a rigorous selection process. Only those suppliers offering optimum performance combined with value-for-money and market relevant products have been selected.  Strong environmental credentials were also an important consideration and Coala includes a large selection of PVC-free products such as films, textiles and FSC or PEFC certified papers.

Richard Champion, Marketing Director at Antalis McNaughton comments, “This launch underlines the importance Antalis McNaughton places in the international development of its sign and display activities, a key area of commitment for the company going forward.”

Coala is also one of the cornerstones of Antalis McNaughton’s Digital-to-Business (d2b) initiative.  This initiative aims to help customers leverage the many business opportunities provided by the emergence of highly innovative digital technologies and applications.

The visual communications market is currently growing year-on-year with the flexible media segment in particular demonstrating enormous potential. This potential is linked to the diversity of substrates that can be used (paper, vinyl, adhesives, film, textiles etc.), the ease of application and therefore the quick return on investment for printers investing in large format machines. The Coala collection will allow printers to leverage this potential and boost their profitability. Antalis McNaughton will continue to work with suppliers to extend the collection even further with new, innovative media.
