Robert Horne Group adds Envirowall Strawboard to product line up

Robert Horne Group has added eco-friendly Envirowall Strawboard to its product range.  This award-winning panel product provides a cost-effective eco-alternative to MDF, chipboard and plasterboard. Made from recycled or natural waste materials, it is also fully recyclable at end of life.

Available in low, medium and high density impact resistant boards, Envirowall is incredibly versatile - offering new levels of protection over and above standard MDF, chipboard or plasterboard - whilst removing the dependence on timber-based products. Pre-finished to a high quality, Envirowall wall panels are delivered ready for installation with no on-site decoration required, saving time and money.

The patented Envirowall Strawboard panel core is easily cut to size and its integral strength means it can support the weight of shelves, pictures, radiators, etc.

Metamark helps LSG create customised interior signage solution

It’s perhaps ironic that there are so many interior signing and wayfinding systems available to designers and sign manufacturers, that it’s hard for either to know which way to turn when looking for one to suit the needs of a particular project.

In pursuit of something genuinely individual, Shaun Bennett, and his team at Blackpool based Links Signs and Graphics (LSG), were approached by a design agency to produce and install a custom fabricated interior signing solution that the agency had conceived as part of works undertaken at EightyOne Central in Blackpool.

LSG first wrapped 10mm thick quality foamed PVC blanks in Metamark MD5 printed on the company’s Mimaki JV-33 and then a gloss laminate. Next, satin chromed stand off locators were installed and 5mm clear acrylic plates with flame polished edges were mounted over the printed panels. On the reverse of the plate, applied Metamark M7 lettering provides the detailing. The result is as individual as the print itself.

Signing systems’ designers typically try to minimise the system’s overall component count so as to reduce complexity and manufacturing cost. As a consequence, the output the system ultimately produces can look like the product of a kit of parts and, with some contemporary systems, the sign arguable dominates the message.  However, LSG’s fabricated signs have a flavour of the familiar, but have an unmistakably bespoke design.

Metamark launches new printable photo mural media

Digital print finds a home and discovers new applications in so many places these days that it’s evident that its potential is far from fully exploited or discovered. New materials and technologies introduce more producers to the possibility of yet more profitable new applications and so, the popularity of the medium grows.

Among Metamark’s latest introduction to its MD-Class digital media portfolio, is MD-TX or, WallTex as it’s also known. WallTex promises MD-Class imaging quality, easy application, and yet more profitable new applications for printers and producers to explore.

WallTex is a printable wall covering. It holds image detail and resolves an impressive gamut thanks to its ink handling characteristics. The material is 100% polyester based and features an adhesive that makes its application, and its removal, clean and easy.

According to Metamark, the new material will find uses anywhere that there’s a need to introduce ambience or a measure of impact. Metamark also suggests that WallTex will find a home in domestic situations where photo-murals are becoming popular.

Supplied on a liner, WallTex can be cut using the same tools used for vinyl. So abstract shaped output and other novel approaches to mural application are challenged more by imagination than practical considerations.

Metamark says it is making sample rolls of the new material available to users of solvent and eco-solvent printers who’d like to try fabric-based photo-mural applications for themselves. Samples are available for same day despatch by contacting sales@metamark.co.uk.
