INX Digital launches new Triangle LD inks at Shanghai Ad & Sign show

INX Digital introduced its new TRIANGLE LD (low durability) series of high performance inks at the 18th annual Shanghai International Ad & Sign Technology Equipment Exhibition that took place from July 6-9 at the Shanghai International Expo Centre.

The TRIANGLE LD series of true solvent-based ink includes STX for HP Scitex XL1200, XL1500 and Grandjet printers, and VUV for printers using Spectra, Hitachi Koki, Xaar 126 and Seiko 572 with 14pl print head technology.  Both inks are designed to be outdoor durable for 1 year.  A greater colour gamut and lower cost compared to OEM inks are a few of the outstanding benefits, but the series has much more to offer according to Alex Garcia, INX Digital’s Business Development Director of the Latin American Region.

“STX and VUV are part of our flagship products and have consistently prevailed in a very competitive market,” Garcia said.  “They were originally available only in a 2-year durability formula, so we expect the 1 year formulation will be very appealing.  In the super wide digital printer segment, both products are recognised as true solvent inks that consistently display a superior colour gamut and great adhesion to all types of media.”

Both STX and VUV now offer a short term outdoor durability option of 1 year.  Garcia believes these products address a need printers have been asking for.  Combined with a lower price point, he thinks the 1 year durability formulations of STX and VUV will prove to be very effective in the marketplace.

“The short term durability will provide the end user with the same benefits at a more affordable cost.  This is especially inviting for printers who do work for special events such as sporting events and concerts, and political campaigns that do not require long term durability.  I expect these products to be very popular in countries that place a visual emphasis on outdoor advertising,” said Garcia.

Drytac revises packaging and reduces damage claims by more than 60%

In an effort to improve product transport and quality for its international customer base, Drytac has rolled out new thicker and larger shipping boxes.  The new box design - complete with a new slogan “Experts in Finishing Solutions” - is being produced in multiple languages reflecting Drytac’s large international customer base.

The new box has been redesigned for improved strength and easy to read product labels.  Recycled plastic inserts replace the prior inserts for stability and end-of-roll damage control.

“There is no point in producing a first class UK product only to have it damaged in transport”, says Sales Drytac Europe Director Steve Broad. “The box is the first thing customers experience and nothing is more frustrating then having to file damage claims and wait for replacement product.” The new Drytac box design was rolled out 3 months ago and has reduced damage claims by over 60%.

Dufaylite Ultra Board has the Edge

It doesn’t matter if it’s black or white when it comes to Ultra Board’s paper-based edging because Dufaylite is now offering both colours to market due to increased demand and as part of the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainability.

Recycled paper honeycomb manufacturer, Dufaylite, has launched a new 250gsm black paper-based edging to partner the existing white option for its pioneering product Ultra Board – a lightweight, robust, highly versatile and 100% recyclable substrate that has become an innovation in the print, signage, retail and design industries.

Last year Dufaylite produced and trialled a white paper-based edging, allowing Ultra Board users to send a complete sealed board to one traditional recycling route at the end of its life. Prior to this development, the company had offered a plastic u-shape extrusion that clients could clip onto the edge of their board, giving it a hard robust edge.

The white edging has since become incredibly popular with POS and exhibition stands and has quickly overtaken plastic edging sales, leading Dufaylite to improve customer choice and increase the range by committing to the new black edging.

Tony Moscrop, Dufaylite CEO, explains: “While some users of Ultra Board love to see the honeycomb centre in their applications to highlight its recyclable components, others want a sealed and clean finish to their board.

“The plastic extrusion we have always produced can be taken off and reused indefinitely and contains recyclable content, but not appealing to those who want a completely paper-based sign or stand. So, we produced the paper-based card edge to compliment our board’s inner and face, allowing users to recycle through one route without any fuss or confusion.

“Ultimately, the popularity of the paper-based edging is yet another indication of end users moving towards total sustainability and who knows, the way things are going, we may soon offer every colour of the rainbow,” adds Tony.

The black or white edging comes in 50metre rolls of 6mm, 10mm and 18mm with peel-off backing for easy self application.

Dufaylite Group is the sole UK manufacturer of recycled paper honeycomb – a 100% recyclable, robust and versatile core material that has become an innovation in the signage industry and is used in many industrial applications. Major suppliers to the retail and manufacturing industries, Dufaylite now exports to Europe, Australia and the US. Established in 1955, Dufaylite has a 2.5 acre site near Cambridge employing 42 staff and is ISO 14001 (Environmental Management Standard) accredited due to its ongoing commitment to developing eco-friendly products.
